The Cheesecake Factory: A Culinary Journey in Mexico City

Twenty years ago, The Cheesecake Factory opened its first branch and currently has a presence in several cities in Mexico such as Mexico City, Monterrey, the State of Mexico, and Querétaro. In addition to desserts, this restaurant offers dishes such as pasta, hamburgers, salads, and pizza.

Prices at The Cheesecake Factory vary, averaging 400 pesos per dish, although hamburgers cost between 225 and 230 pesos and cheesecakes between 200 and 230 pesos, depending on the ingredients. Pasta ranges from 330 to 370 pesos, while main dishes have an average cost of 300 pesos, with options including chicken, shrimp, and salmon.

The restaurant located in Plaza Parque Delta in Mexico City caught the attention of the son of drug trafficker Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, Ovidio Guzmán, who used to frequent this place in 2021. It was revealed that Ovidio would visit the The Cheesecake Factory branch in the Narvarte neighborhood every Thursday.

During his stay in Mexico City, Ovidio Guzmán visited places like the Roma neighborhood, Condesa, Santa Fe, and Nápoles, but his preference for The Cheesecake Factory stood out, with the branch in Plaza Parque Delta being his weekly destination to enjoy desserts. In October 2021, a hitman almost attacked him in the restaurant but backed out due to the presence of other people in the place.

The Cheesecake Factory has a history that dates back more than 50 years when Evelyn Overton created a cheesecake recipe that became a hit. In 1972, along with her husband Oscar, she opened The Cheesecake Factory Bakery in Los Angeles. In 1978, her son David joined the business and opened a branch in Beverly Hills, thus marking the beginning of the family's company expansion.
